Position Overview

We are seeking a Security Intern to join our security team. This position offers hands-on experience in healthcare security, risk assessment frameworks, including HIPAA. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn about cybersecurity in the healthcare sector.

 

Overview

• Assist with security audits and compliance assessments, ensuring adherence to HIPAA and other regulations.
• Support vulnerability management by researching emerging cybersecurity threats and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams on infrastructure benchmarking and performance analysis.
• Help document security policies and procedures, ensuring clear guidelines for healthcare data protection.
• Monitor security logs and incident reports, escalating potential threats to the appropriate teams.
• Participate in training sessions on data security, risk management, and regulatory requirements.

 

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, SOC 2 Type 2) and compliance requirements such as HIPAA.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity tools for risk assessment and infrastructure monitoring.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Passion for cybersecurity, compliance, and healthcare security.

Responsibilities: 

• Analyze and investigate security incidents escalated to the NOC
• Investigate risky sign-ins from users via EntraID
• Respond and assist in threat remediation and investigation
• Assist with project documentation and presentation
• Assist with phishing campaigns
• Other Tier 1 security functions. (Email monitoring, threat hunting, vulnerability analysis, etc.)
