This is an exciting opportunity on the Total Employee Rewards and Culture team, providing subject matter expertise and performing complex administrative processes related to plan compliance, employee education and employee service models that support Zachry’s health and welfare benefit programs. We are seeking an experienced professional to serve in this role reporting directly to the Benefits Advisory Team Manager. This role requires an individual who can successfully perform their duties with discretion, compassion, confidentiality, and integrity when advising employees of their benefit programs. Keys to success in this position and in supporting Zachry’s total reward philosophy are ensuring the plans remain in compliance with legal requirements and operate according to plan documents, developing and maintaining productive relationships with constituents and other internal resources, and employing effective communication across the organization and at all levels.

What will you do in this role?

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for benefit programs, policies and processes and as a point of contact for Plan related questions and concerns; assist participants as needed in all areas.
  • Administer the day-to-day operations of Zachry’s benefit plans to ensure the Plan is operating in accordance with its governing documents and regulatory guidelines and maintain knowledge of regulatory changes, trends, and other developments as they pertain to Zachry’s benefit plans. 
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with constituents and internal resources, at all levels within the organization, to deliver timely, targeted, and coordinated benefits solutions.
  • Exhibit a broad range of analytical skills with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Maintain attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Research and provide support and guidance on benefit programs and processes (respond to and resolve increasingly complex participant issues). Provide guidance in handling difficult or complex problems. Collaborate with others to support complicated participant inquiries.
  • Provide education and guidance on benefit programs and practices to other benefits contact center team members. Train, coach and mentor other benefits specialists or extended team members on process execution or customer service techniques.
  • Draft and update process and procedural documentation.
  • Identify and recommend methods to update, simplify and enhance processes, procedures and technologies. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to ensure services are effectively delivered.
  • Provide input into benefit programs including implementation, administration, communications and education. Act in a consultative capacity and project management role to define and implement program delivery. Identifies process and systems implications of, and solutions to, new or modified programs and policies.

What required skills, qualifications and abilities do you need to bring to the role?

  • Understanding of employee benefits processes, governmental requirements, and economics of employer group insurance and investment industries.
  • Good technical skills and understanding of HRIS, testing and file interfaces.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities.
