DUTY OFFICER (DISPATCHER)

CAPITOL POLICE

**Open-Competitive Opportunity**

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for operating the Capitol Police’s electronic security system and communications network located in the Capitol Building and serving the Capitol Complex and Capital Circle Office Complex security operations for the Capitol Police on a rotating shift basis.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Monitoring and operating a two-way radio base station in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and FCC rules and regulations;
  • Maintaining location and recording the itinerary of personnel as prescribed by departmental policies and procedures;
  • Monitoring the radio system during surveillance and special details in operation;
  • Providing emergency or non-emergency assistance as situations mandate; and
  • Notifying maintenance of repairs on radio systems as prescribed by procedures.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A high school diploma or its equivalent.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of appropriate procedures when interacting with individuals in critical situations;
  • Ability to make decisions and function effectively in crisis situations;
  • Ability to make decisions and function effectively in high stress, emergency situations;
  • Ability to speak clearly and listen effectively;
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to operate a multi-line phone system; and
  • Ability to monitor surveillance equipment (i.e. cameras, alarms).

 

BASE SALARY:

  • $45,000.00
