Position Overview
Reporting to the President of Kentucky, the Vice President of Finance - Kentucky provides finance leadership, works closely with senior management, and is a key part of the Kentucky Leadership Team. Responsibilities include oversight of financial systems and procedures including activities related to monthly accounting close, financial reporting, effective communication, and implementation of policies and practices.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Works closely with the President of Kentucky and other senior members of management on executing the Company’s overall financial strategy, corporate vision, and strategic planning.
- Oversees accounting team personnel and the day-to-day financial activities of the Companies providing overall direction, coordination, coaching, and development of this team.
- Prepare annual capex and operating budgets, monthly actual management reports and forecasts, annual financial reporting statements, and ad-hoc reports as required.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making. Evaluate the financial performance of the Companies and recommend improvements.
- Provide support for the evaluation of capital expenditures, contracts, forecasts, budgets, strategic plans, and other financial issues affecting the business.
- Organizes, interprets, and presents operating and financial data, including identification of significant indicators to senior management.
- Ensure that adequate internal controls are implemented and maintained to safeguard financial risk and assets of the organization. Ensures that effective corporate and operational systems are established and maintained.
- Work with regional finance department managing activities related to various audits: internal, external, SOX, tax.
- Ensures compliance with state tax laws (sales, property, etc.), including collection, payment, and reporting.

- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Willingness to develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.
- Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required; CPA certification and/or MBA strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years managerial/leadership experience in a finance role leading a team of finance professionals.
- Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
- Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Hyperion experience is preferred.
- Proven analytical skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative.
