Description

We are seeking a Data Practice Lead to join our team and lead our data and development team. In this role, you will consult and deliver data engineering projects for our customers in the NFP, hospitality, and professional service sectors.
As a Data Practice Lead, you will be responsible for understanding our clients’ needs and providing innovative solutions to their data challenges. You will also lead and mentor our team of data and development professionals, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional results.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with experience in consulting and delivering data projects. You will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate your team. You will also have a strong understanding of the NFP, hospitality, and professional service sectors, and be able to provide expert advice to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement:
    • Act as a primary point of contact for mid-size clients, understanding their business needs, and translating them into technical requirements.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to identify new opportunities for data and development services and provide presales support.
    • Ensure a high level of client satisfaction through successful project delivery and ongoing support.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, developers, and analysts 
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture. 
    • Set clear expectations and goals for team members, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Agile & Scrum Management:
    • Track and maintain project progress & roadmaps across multiple client projects and requirements, refining acceptance criteria, sprint planning, hosting scrum ceremonies and ensuring the delivery of a minimum viable product by the end of each sprint 
    • Collaborate with other department leaders to align project goals with overall business objectives.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in data management and development and evangelise for them across the business and with our customers
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team in selecting appropriate technologies and methodologies for client solutions.
    • Drive continuous improvement in development processes and best practices.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of reliable and scalable solutions.
    • Retrospectively review and improve processes

Ideal Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a data and development team.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with data engineering and software development lifecycles
  • Project management skills including experience of Agile methodologies. Scrum Master or Product Owner certifications are a bonus. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and team members.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
