Job Summary
Denver Health is seeking a General Dentist that will rotate across Denver Health's outpatient dental clinics and the main campus. Depending on clinic assignment, there may be opportunities to work with residents and fourth-year dental students.

Schedule

Scheduling is typically set six weeks in advance, with a minimum of three days per week required. Saturday availability is optional, with two clinics offering Saturday hours. Shifts may range from 8, 10, or 12 hours, depending on provider preference. The schedule is highly adaptable and may change frequently based on clinic needs.
 

Clinic Locations & Hours
Each site is staffed with general dentists and a dedicated care team. More complex needs are referred to specialty providers within the Denver Health system.

  • Eastside Family Health Center
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Federico F. Peña Southwest Family Health Center
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Lowry Family Health Center
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Montbello Family Health Center
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Outpatient Medical Center – Pavilion L (Adults)
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Webb Center for Primary Care – Pavilion G (Pediatrics Only)
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Westside Family Health Center
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.


Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, the provider will:

  • Diagnose, prevent, and treat conditions of the teeth and oral tissues.
  • Remove decay, fill cavities, and perform examinations with diagnostic imaging.
  • Place protective sealants on children’s teeth, straighten teeth, and repair fractures.
  • Perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bone to treat periodontal disease.
  • Extract teeth and create models/measurements for dentures and other prosthetics.
  • Provide patient education on diet, oral hygiene, and preventive care, including the use of fluorides.
  • Administer anesthetics and prescribe antibiotics or other medications as appropriate.

Essential Functions:

  • Dental Services
    Performs professional dental care which includes restorative dentistry, exodontia, and visual examination of patient’s oral cavity, analyzing results of x-rays, other diagnostic procedures, removal of decay teeth, extract or restore teeth. Examine teeth, gum and related issues, using dental instruments, x-ray and other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose disease or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.Diagnose and treat disease, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums and related oral structures, and provide preventative and corrective services. Treat exposure of pulp by pulp capping, removal of pulp chamber, or root canal, using dental instruments, Treats disease of teeth, gum and mouth with appropriate medication. (30%)
  • Treatment Plan
    Formulate plan of treatment for patient’s teeth and mouth tissues. Prepares charts and determines that most feasible plan for treatment. Maintains charts and treatment plans and completes required reports. (20%)
  • Medication Management
    Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patient during procedure. Write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications. (15%)
  • Patient Education
    Educates patients regarding preventative dentistry and oral hygiene. Advise and instruct patients regarding preventative dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, and oral health care services. (10%)
  • Authorizes the manufacture of dental prosthetics by dental laboratories. (10%)
  • Supervises and manages dental staff when appropriate. (10%)
  • Refers patients for appropriate health care procedures with dental and medical health professionals. Communicates effectively and ensures loop closure with specialty referrals. (5%)


Education:

  • Doctorate Degree Required


Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years One year of experience since completion of training Required
