Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking a Corporate Occupational Safety Advisor to join our team at our headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas.  The Corporate Occupational Safety Advisor will support zero safety incident goals at CPChem and Affiliate manufacturing locations through Global OE Standard development and deployment and by working collaboratively with all levels of the organization to facilitate continuous improvement efforts and support CPChem EHSS organizations enterprise-wide through transformational change efforts in occupational safety.    #HPCP

Responsibilities (continued)

Support zero safety incident goals at CPChem and Affiliate manufacturing locations through Global OE Standard development and deployment and by working collaboratively with all levels of the organization to facilitate continuous improvement efforts and support CPChem EHSS organizations enterprise-wide through transformational change efforts in occupational safety.  This will be accomplished through the following responsibilities:

  • Serve as Document Owner and Subject Matter Expert for Company Global OE Standards and applicable regulations related to occupational safety, with an emphasis on Life Critical Standards:
    • Assist Facilities in interpreting and complying with requirements of assigned Global OE Standards and of applicable, new, and revised U.S. Occupational Safety laws and regulations
    • Develop training modules, gap assessment tools, and guidance documentation for new and significantly revised Global OE Standards and U.S. Occupational Safety laws and regulations
    • Develop working knowledge of Facility procedures and practices appliable to assigned Global OE Standards
    • Lead efforts to resolve conflicts/barriers to application of Global OE Standards, including  evaluating requests for variances from and requests for changes to assigned Global OE Standards
    • Assist Facilities and Commercial organizations in preparation and performance of system performance reviews and OE Self-Reviews for assigned Global OE Standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health, Safety & Fire Protection, Safety Engineering or a closely related field
  • Minimum of ten years of professional health and/or safety experience in the petrochemical/chemical industry
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of application of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standard and OSHA CFR 1926 Construction Standard requirements and associated regulatory interpretations/compliance directives/Federal Register Notices
  • Demonstrated working experience in public presentations, written communications, team and meeting facilitation, and organizational and systemic program development, commensurate with the stated responsibilities of this position
  • Demonstrated working experience with qualitative and quantitative risk-analysis techniques, incident investigation methodologies, hazard analyses, change management approaches, and audits of safety, health, risk management, quality, and similar programs, commensurate with the stated responsibilities of this position
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills and proficiency in solving complex problems and analyzing unique issues
  • Highly motivated and be a self-starter able
