The software quality engineering team at Business Wire works on a wide array of applications ranging from on-premises to cloud. We support multiple development teams in several product areas. The Senior Quality Engineer (SQE) writes test code in our test automation frameworks. Tests are code, and the SQE will be writing a lot of test classes and methods as well as writing data and business models to support parametrization and application wrappers to support the testing of additional applications and services. The SQE will investigate and determine how to automate testing of applications and services and will be responsible for maintaining tests and the core framework as the application tests changes from sprint to sprint.The SQE will mentor and support junior quality engineers and play an important role in code reviews.

Role Responsibilities
- Partner with Engineering and Product teams to understand features and determine necessary testing to ensure high quality products. al user experience.
- Identify, log, and track issues as part of projects and releases.
- Plan, create, maintain, and run integration, functional, non-functional, end to end, and performance automated testing, whether locally or through a build system.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose any errors and failures.
- Perform exploratory and manual testing as necessary to support automated testing and product needs.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers in test design and coding. This includes code reviews and pair programming.
- Provide detailed documentation and training on automation tools and applications.
- Partner with the Release Manager to coordinate and improve test coverage for midday and off-hour deploy events.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field and relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of QA and testing experience with a comprehensive understanding of manual and test automation concepts and methods.
- 3+ years of experience creating, running, and troubleshooting automation scripts for testing web sites, services, mobile applications using open-source test tools, like Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, Appium and JMeter.
- 3+ years of experience with JavaScript and able to demonstrate in a coding interview.
- Experience with continuous integration build tools, like Jenkins.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision.
- Fluency in the product life cycle, including software development methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability for complex problem solving.
- Experience working in a version control system, like GitHub.
- Experience with testing mobile applications.
- Experience with load, performance, and resilience testing (tools like Chaos Monkey).
- Exposure to microservice based architecture.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification.
- Experience with Docker.
- The base salary range for this position is $120K to $140K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
