Position Overview

This position serves as the Director of Nursing for Jacksonville Correctional Center. The incumbent will work as a full-line supervisor to nursing staff, assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance and training to assigned staff, scheduling staff to meet day-to-day operating needs, establish annual goals and objectives. The incumbent will work with state and contractual staff and monitor the quality of care given to our patients. The Director of Nursing will assist with the monthly reports, have open communication with the Office of Health Services, assist with CQI data collection and studies, as well as audit completion. Jacksonville Correctional Center is designed to provide for the custody, care and safety of the adult males who have been placed under its jurisdiction. The facility works to provide the offender population with the skills necessary for a more positive and successful reintegration process back into the community by providing services that focus on the first-time offender as well as the recidivist. The institution consists of approximately 70 acres of which 24 acres are located within the perimeter fencing. The facility consists of 13 buildings containing in excess of 152,000 square feet. The living units consist of five housing units, one segregation unit and a 7-bed health care unit. The Jacksonville Correctional Center is also the parent institution of the Pittsfield Work Camp and Greene County incarceration program.  We invite all qualified candidates to apply!

Essential Functions

• Serves as full-line supervisor.
• Provides direction, assistance and example on nursing treatments and procedures.
• Schedules special clinics and reviews lines for proper care and follow-up.
• Manages nursing staff documents.
• Serves as an auditor for the Internal Audit Team, an instructor for Employee Module Training and Grievance Officer.
• Acts as a liaison for outside specialty clinics, hospitals, as directed.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
• Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
