JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Child Care Center at Hort Woods, on the University Park campus, is seeking a candidate for a Supervising Early Childhood Development Educator (working with children 3 - 5 years old) committed to the process of creating and providing high quality learning environments for young children and families.
The Child Care Center Educator instructs children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in an early care and education facility; develops curriculum activities and experiences within the framework of early learning standards; provides and maintains a safe, secure, and stimulating classroom environment; fosters positive relationships with families; and works collaboratively with a classroom and center wide teaching and support team.
The successful candidate will:
- Plan, develop, deliver, and facilitate developmentally appropriate and engaging experiences for children in all development and learning areas within the framework of the state early learning standards
- Prepare lesson plans to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth; integrate curriculum into daily routines, lesson plans, developmental experiences, and assessments; individualize curriculum experiences to meet student needs
- Ensure a safe and supportive classroom environment; maintain classroom security and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Create learning materials and aids
- Develop and facilitate assessments to monitor student progress
- Maintain student records and data; prepare reports
- Supervise classroom team members, aides, interns, and students; complete appropriate evaluations
- Maintain communication with parents; provide guidance, education and suggestions; partner with parents to establish individual student goals
- Support and promote child and family diversity by integrating family culture, language, and ability into classroom curriculum
