Cyber DLP Engineer, Principal Associate (Remote-Eligible)

Capital One’s Cyber organization is seeking a Principal Associate, Cyber Technical to join the Data Protection Engineering team, supporting enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) initiatives. This role will focus on Symantec Network DLP, with responsibilities spanning infrastructure management, cloud integration, system reliability, and operational automation. As a key member of the DLP engineering team, you will work alongside software engineers, DBAs, Product Owners, and Security Architectures to ensure the DLP symptoms are resilient, scalable, and aligned with organizational security goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Symantec Network DLP, performing hands-on work managing infrastructure components including Enforce Server, Detection Servers, Oracle RDS databases, and ICAP integrations

  • Own infrastructure uptime and reliability across AWS-hosted services, including system monitoring, incident response pipelines, and failover planning

  • Lead and execute system upgrades, patching, and Vendor-supported maintenance activities in partnership with internal engineering teams and vendors.

  • Document architecture and operational procedures, identifying opportunities for automation and standardization

  • Support the engineering, automation, and platform operations for the enterprise DLP infrastructure

  • Support the development of CI/CD automation using Jenkins and GitHub, supporting code deployment, pipeline integration, and infrastructure updates

  • Build and maintain platform observability dashboards using monitoring and telemetry tools to detect anomalies and trigger alerts

  • Participate in and enhance platform-level incident response, system recovery, and failover processes

  • Integrate with DLP software APIs for event polling, alert processing, and enhanced system logging

  • Maintain detailed documentation, runbooks, and post-incident reports to ensure operational transparency and continuity

  • Support ongoing compliance, availability, and scalability goals for the platform


About You

  • You are a subject matter expert in data loss prevention tools - Symantec DLP

  • You have a strong understanding of the web proxy, email, and endpoint solution. 

  • You are detail oriented and are able to articulate key details clearly both in conversation and in technical writing.

  • You are capable of driving complex technical initiatives to full delivery leveraging knowledge of Cyber security practices, software engineering principles, agile frameworks, and customer engagement.

  • You have the ability to foster collaborative, open, working relationships with technology groups and other stakeholders, including vendor relationships .

  • You have demonstrated clear communication skills and ability to interact effectively at multiple levels of an organization, and to influence leadership (Including translating technical information based on specific audiences).

  • You have experience working in and/or managing multiple high-visibility and high-impact enterprise cybersecurity projects with cross-functional teams while maintaining superior results including planning, development and management of technical requirements, design, testing and deployment of security solutions.

  • You have passion and expertise in one or more of the following areas: technical delivery, product security, software development practices, or platform engineering.

  • Hands-on knowledge and expertise in building and/or securing technology, including operating systems, databases, virtualization, cloud computing environments, and networks.

  • You are able to troubleshoot, investigate, configure and support the data loss prevention products.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 3 years of experience working in cybersecurity or information technology

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Symantec DLP infrastructure administration

  • At least 3 years of experience with cloud environments, including practical experience with AWS Lambda, SNS, SQS, EC2, or CloudWatch
