Job Summary
Black & Veatch’s Asset Management (AM) group has grown rapidly and has an exciting opportunity for a professional interested in applying their knowledge of asset management practices to the challenges of managing Water and Wastewater Utilities, Cities, and Public Works entities. Asset management is a strategic growth area for the firm and provides exciting career possibilities and potential for interested professionals.
Our team is looking for an energetic seller-doer with familiarity in a broad array of asset management experience who can grow our business in the region. Desired experience includes all facets of asset management, including organizational assessments and program assessment with ISO 55000, risk-based prioritization, condition assessment, asset management plan development, and information systems (EAM, CMMS, and GIS).

The role will include utilizing Black & Veatch’s network of local client directors to meet and market our services to current clients - and to develop and drive separate project/program opportunities through direct contact with clients. A proven track record of sustained, successful business development is essential. Business development skills should include the ability to identify and capitalize on strategic market trends; develop long term client relationships; sell across a broad portfolio of offerings; identify and articulate client needs; orchestrate and lead workshops; help clients formulate scope of works, schedules, and budgets; prepare proposals; and negotiate and close contracts.
The candidate will be expected to lead and support projects in both a managerial and technical role. This will include leading technical specialists and early-career professionals in successful project and task execution.Position location is flexible between our Southern California regional offices in Los Angeles, Irvine, and San Marcos.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum total of 12 years of related work experience is typically necessary to move into this level. Graduate work may count as related work experience if directly applicable to job function.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university; or equivalent job-related work experience.
- IAM Certificate in Asset Management
- Professional Engineering registration, preferred
- Experience in a client-facing/business development role
- Experience leading complex project teams and executing AM projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.Work Environment/Physical Demands
