Purpose
The Senior HR Coordinator at the Oden Institute will play a crucial role in supporting the full employment lifecycle of faculty, staff, and student employees. Reporting to the Associate Director of Research Administration and HR, this position will oversee key HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits coordination, and compliance with institutional policies. Acting as a trusted resource, the Senior HR Coordinator will ensure a seamless and efficient HR experience. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic academic environment and is committed to excellence in human resources operations.
Responsibilities
Manage the full employment lifecycle, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes, while ensuring compliance with university policies and employment regulations.
Consult with hiring managers to assess staffing needs, advise on employment requirements, and facilitate HR business processes for all personnel categories.
Oversee HR compliance and administrative processes, including background checks, visa petitions, I-9 verification, and employment authorizations in collaboration with Texas Global.
Serve as a key HR liaison, providing guidance to employees, students and managers on university policies, payroll, student employment, and compliance training.
Support HR operations by processing high-volume business transactions, preparing HR reports, maintaining organizational charts, and enhancing workflow efficiencies.
Address employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and workplace concerns, ensuring prompt resolution and appropriate referrals to campus resources.
Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes by recommending workflow enhancements, assisting with training initiatives, and participating in professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a human resources role, demonstrating expertise in HR processes and best practices.
Strong command of written and oral English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and exceptional organizational skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.
Proven ability to work both independently and within a team, fostering effective relationships in a collegial environment.
Experience working in a high-volume office environment while managing multiple deadlines efficiently.
Commitment to promoting a dynamic, service-oriented workplace.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
