IMEG Corp. is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team!  We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Designer in our Macomb, IL office. The Senior Civil Designer 2 will lead projects as a project manager or lead designer for the delivery of large and highly complex projects with minimal support required from senior staff. They will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include advanced engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight, and review of work by others for Civil Engineering projects. Additional responsibilities will include working within the project’s monetary budget, leading training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities ​​

  • Lead design efforts for civil engineering projects based on written scope; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards

  • Performs site assessments and generates detailed analysis and technical reports

  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication

  • Provide in-process design reviews of civil engineering projects, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence; Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements

  • Provide technical training and mentoring; Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with minimal support from senior staff

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG

  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work; Interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Lead the design and analysis of Civil Engineering project features utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards

  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills

  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise

  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
