Overview
We are seeking a confident, service-driven leader to serve in a hybrid Banquet Captain / Restaurant Supervisor role. This position is primarily responsible for leading banquet events during high-volume weeks, while also serving as a floor supervisor in our three-meal restaurant to maintain a full-time schedule.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, leads from the front, holds teams accountable, and builds strong service culture through coaching and consistency.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Banquet Captain Duties (Primary Role During Event Weeks):
- Lead execution of banquet events including weddings, meetings, conferences, and social functions
- Serve as on-site point of contact for banquet staff and event hosts during service
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and ensure staff understand event details, timing, and service standards
- Coordinate with Banquet Manager, Culinary, and Sales/Event teams to ensure seamless execution
- Supervise setup, service flow, breakdown, and post-event procedures
- Maintain service standards, professionalism, and guest experience throughout events
- Train, coach, and motivate banquet team members
- Address guest concerns in real time and escalate as appropriate
- Assist with staffing, scheduling support, and inventory oversight during major event weeks
Restaurant Supervisor Duties (To Maintain Full-Time Schedule):
- Act as floor supervisor in the hotel’s three-meal restaurant as needed
- Support daily service operations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Lead pre-shift meetings and ensure service standards are upheld
- Coach servers, hosts, and support staff in real time
- Monitor guest experience and step in to resolve service issues
- Assist with opening/closing duties, sidework accountability, and shift flow
- Help reinforce service culture, teamwork, and accountability
- Support restaurant leadership with training, performance feedback, and operational consistency
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This role is physically demanding and requires hands-on participation in event setup and service. Candidates must be able to:
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly (tables, chairs, risers, chafers, beverage stations, etc.)
- Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours during event days)
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach, twist, and move quickly in tight spaces
- Work in fast-paced, high-volume environments including ballrooms, meeting spaces, and kitchen-adjacent service areas
- Work flexible schedules including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
Leadership Expectations
- Lead with confidence, professionalism, and positivity
- Hold team members accountable to service standards while building them up through coaching
- Set the tone on the floor during both banquet events and restaurant shifts
- Be a visible leader during high-volume, high-pressure services
- Model hospitality, urgency, and teamwork
Qualifications
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in banquets, events, or full-service restaurants (hotel experience strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to lead teams in high-volume, fast-paced environments
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience coordinating large events, weddings, or conferences a plus
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented under pressure
- Strong guest service mindset with attention to detail

This is a full-time position, and the pay is $22-24 an hour.
