As a GNC Engineer Level 2 or 3 located in Space Park, CA, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

   

Designs, develops, tests, and verifies algorithms, software, and simulation tools for the guidance, navigation, and control of various vehicles, including aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, launch vehicles, and surface ships, during all phases of flight and mission operations. Navigation functions include statistical processing of measured data and integrating those into physical simulations. Guidance functions involve creating equations to achieve precise positions, orientations, or orbits in space. Control design includes developing control laws and defining hardware and software requirements.
 

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Your mission, should you choose to accept:

  • Design, develop, implement, verify, and test high-quality software and simulation toolchains
  • Work on a 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) simulation to design and test missile flight code
  • Work with 6DoF simulation models to evaluate system performance
  • Be experienced with missile flight dynamics, autopilot and guidance design, and implementation into missile flight code
  • Be experienced with various trajectory optimization software and tools
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

Level 2

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 1 year of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.  Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
  • Experience working with missile guidance and control algorithms
  • Experience with missile simulation and flight dynamics

Level 3

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.  Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
  • Experience working with missile guidance and control algorithms
  • Experience with missile simulation and flight dynamics

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience with IR discrimination and tracking
  • Experience designing, tuning, implementing, and testing guidance algorithms and autopilot parameters for guided missiles and/or interceptors.
  • Control systems theory and flight dynamics proficiency
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python
  • Proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python toolchains
  • Existing active and in scope Top Secret clearance upon application
