Riverside Medical Group is currently seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Riverside Hospice in Newport News, Virginia.

Qualifications

• Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care

• Ability to document appropriately and communicate with appropriate parties in a timely manner

• Ability to complete charts in a timely manner

• Experienced in diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions

• Basic working knowledge of managed care and Medicare population

• Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor

• Excellent communication skills

• Professional appearance

⭐ Licensure & Certification (Required) — Hospice Nurse Practitioner

Nurse Practitioner

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
  Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner (NP) license with a specialty designation aligned to adult primary care, family practice, adult-gerontology, or geriatrics.
• National NP Certification in the corresponding specialty (e.g., FNP‑BC/FNP‑C, AGPCNP‑BC, A‑GNP, GNP).

⭐ Prescriptive Authority Requirements

• Eligibility for Schedule II–VI prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  (Established through Virginia’s NP regulations.) [dhp.virginia.gov]
• Active DEA registration (or eligibility).

⭐ Certifications

• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS recommended

⭐ Optional Addition

• Experience in palliative care, hospice, geriatrics, or advanced chronic disease management.
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary hospice team standards under Virginia Hospice regulations (IDG structure, plan of care requirements, etc.).
