Job Duties

The work at VDH Office of Vital Records impacts the lives of thousands of Virginians every day. As a Vital Records Program Support Generalist, you will process a variety of routine and complex vital record requests and may be required to support the in person
customer service unit with submitted inquiries. This position educates the general public on the requirements for requesting vital records and submitting amendments, responds to customer requests in writing or via telephone, maintains office files, performs quality assurance, and is required to meet daily production goals while adhering to VDH policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Experience serving as an expert resource, providing accurate information and resolving inquiries.
2. Proven, professional, and effective communication skills with internal and external customers over the phone, in writing, and in person.
3. Professional experience in interpreting and applying state regulations and policies.
4. Demonstrated professional experience in completing highly detailed work which requires complete accuracy.
5. Experience performing research to solve problems, using analytical and critical thinking skills.
6. Experience working independently with minimal supervision and meeting deadlines.

Additional Considerations

1. Direct experience with vital records program operations, services, policies, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of handling customer payments and reconciling accounts.
3. Experience processing complex customer inquiries.
4. Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently.
