Job Summary
Summary: As a Sommelier with Levy you will be responsible for curating and managing our wine list, enhancing our guests’ dining experiences through expert wine pairing, and providing exceptional guest service. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of wines and spirits to create an impressive beverage program that complements our culinary offerings and exceeds our guests' expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Wine Selection: Curate and manage an extensive wine list that aligns with the restaurant's cuisine and clientele. Establish good rapport with vintners, sponsors, guests, and team members
- Guest Experience: Offer personalized wine recommendations to guests based on their preferences and menu choices. Conduct wine tastings and educate guests about wine varieties, regions, and pairings. Engaging with guests and season ticket members to build relationships and gain trust in order to make more consistent sales.
- Wine Pairing: Collaborate with the culinary team to design and suggest wine pairings that enhance the overall dining experience. Collaborate with chefs to create wine pairing menus with Chef Table Menus or chef partners.
- Inventory Management: Oversee wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing. Ensure proper wine storage conditions and manage stock levels to minimize waste and ensure availability.
- Training and Development: Train and mentor front-of-house staff on wine service, including proper handling, pouring, and wine pairing techniques. Develop and deliver educational sessions to enhance staff knowledge and performance.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all wine served meets quality standards. Address any guest concerns related to wine service promptly and professionally
Enforce all Levy policies and standards and report employee infractions or irregularities to management for immediate and effective follow-up training or disciplinary support
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Som
