JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Altoona is searching for a Maintenance Worker (General) C to join their team. Duties include:

• Rake and remove leaves and other debris; pick up paper and other debris; sweep walks, driveways, parking areas, etc.; clean catch basins and road drains
• Assist with the planting and transplanting of trees, grass, shrubbery, etc.; rake and shovel soil for landscaping; weed and clean flower beds, shrubbery, etc.
• Operate tractors and other power equipment to cut grass, weeds, fertilize and trim lawns, all materials, etc.
• Shovel snow and chop ice; spread sand, cinders and other anti-skid materials on walks, roads and parking areas; operate power snow removal equipment
• Assist with lining athletic fields
• Drive University vehicles as required
• Load and unload trucks; store received items as directed; report damaged items to supervisor
• Assemble tables, platforms, etc.; rearrange or move furniture for social events, activities, classes, etc.
• Replace burned out interior or exterior light bulbs; clean lighting fixtures
• Mop, sweep and clean assigned areas of buildings; wash walls, windows, blinds, etc.; operate power janitorial equipment such as floor buffing and scrubbing machines, vacuum sweepers, rug and carpet cleaners, etc.
• Assist mechanics by holding material, handling tools, etc., as required
• Dig holes, trenches, post holes, etc., for minor construction and repair, and assist in erecting fences
• Lock and unlock doors to buildings and rooms, close windows; turn out lights
• Adjust heat controls to raise or lower temperature as necessary

Job Requirements: Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. Up to 3 months of effective experience.

Work Schedule: Saturday, Sunday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Days Off: Monday, Tuesday
