THE POSITION

We’re looking for an experienced senior tax professional to lead the growing FanDuel Tax team in New York City. This SVP of Tax role reports directly to FanDuel’s Chief Financial Officer, with a dotted line into Flutter’s Group Tax Director. This role entails owning all tax-related matters for FanDuel as well as assisting FanDuel’s parent company Flutter Entertainment plc with all other US tax-related matters. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the FanDuel Tax function, key role responsibilities include spearheading all manner of tax planning opportunities, serving as a key stakeholder for all public reporting/SEC and SOX related matters, partnering with other Finance functions to manage accounting for all tax matters, and strengthening cross-functional integration with other key stakeholders and business functions. Fulfilling these responsibilities will require the SVP of Tax to work closely with the senior leadership teams at both FanDuel and Flutter. This role represents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the FanDuel Tax function while also helping to influence tax policy for the online gaming industry at large in a fast-paced and rapidly growing marketplace.
In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
- Develop and deploy future vision for FanDuel’s Tax function including development of a structured professional development strategy for each member of the Tax team
- Serve as key tax subject matter expert within the 10-K/10-Q & other SEC reporting processes and own the tax elements of the SOX compliance & testing and investor relations verticals
- Serve as key tax subject matter expert within the Government Affairs, Corporate Governance, Business Development/M&A, Strategic Partnerships, and Global Mobility verticals
- Partner with the Flutter Tax function’s senior leadership team to own all tax planning workstreams including legal entity structuring, cash repatriation/E&P management, transfer pricing, and other cross-border tax matters
- Oversee any tax controversy matters from ongoing proactive audit defense stage through to the post-controversy resolution stage
- Own all indirect tax matters with a focus on further advancing current approach to sales & use tax advocacy, planning, and technology
- Oversee all tax research and the drafting of all externally and internally prepared legal opinions and other tax position memos
- Cultivate deeper integration with key stakeholders and business functions to better facilitate strategic decision making and further increase the positive impact of the Tax function
- Oversee overall tax provisioning process and partner with the other members of the Finance senior leadership team to own financial audit management
- Partner with other Finance functions to oversee accounting for all corporate tax matters throughout the entire accounting lifecycle
- Partner with the Finance Operations and Regulatory Compliance functions to manage all regulatory licensing requirements and resolve all regulatory inquiries
- Oversee the corporate income tax compliance process
