Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work within a team of mechanical design engineers to deliver next generation enterprise SSD or flash devices.
  • Support enclosure development to define stack-up and fitment.
  • Support HW engineering on package placement to take into account of thermal, structural considerations in alignment with system, assembly or program needs.
  • Align with functional teams to understand devices and define metrics to ensure meeting product requirement on both performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop new processes and close DFM.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation and changes.
  • Conduct readiness reviews with FMEA and tolerance studies.
  • Collaborate with MFG/automation counterparts on pilot runs and qualifications. Provide PCBA DFM with well-justified spec/tolerance.
  • Prompt Failure Analysis and defect resolution.
  • Drive improvement activities through aggressive DOE and experiment management / tracking.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • BS, MS or PhD in a technical discipline.
  • Mechanical design, tooling and machine design via CAD and hands-on creation expertise a must. Solid understanding on PCBA and enclosure design needed.
  • Requires 3+ years in electronic packaging.
  • 3D modeling experience a must, hands-on experience with SolidWorks a big plus

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in and understanding of thermal or structural analyses is a plus.
  • Ability to simulate structural or thermal problems a plus
  • Knowledge in materials including polymers and aluminum alloys a plus
  • Python programming experience in Data Analytics or Machine Learning a plus

SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment are essential. Innovative and detail oriented.
