The 4100 Cardiac Telemetry/Renal Unit at Akron General houses a diverse population of patients managing complex conditions, such as Congestive Heart Failure, ESRD, cardiac arrythmia, acute coronary syndrome and other comorbidities. As an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM), you will have direct oversight of the day-to-day operations of the unit. You will also act as a resource for new caregivers, round with the patients to help improve their experience and perform service recovery.  

 

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 5:00AM, with the availability to work some weekends.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Interview, hire and train staff; provide input into performance evaluations and provide feedback. 

• Make personnel action recommendations (e.g., promotions, transfers, disciplinary, discharge). 

• Provide direction and support to the unit staff and supervises admissions, conducts assessment of patient's needs, and initiates nursing care plans. 

• Evaluate and document patient progress. 

• Facilitate the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of nursing programs, initiative and objective for the unit. 

• Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.  

• Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff and other areas within the organization. 

• Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit. 

• Prepare schedule of work assignments assuring adequate coverage. 

• Participate in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives. 

• Participate in departments and committees as assigned. 

• Assist with providing continuing education and in-service educational programs for caregivers. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) 

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
