Job Family Definition:
Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.
Management Level Definition:
Contributions include applying developed subject matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems and recommending alternatives where necessary. Join our Feature Test team as a TCP-03, where you will ensure the quality and reliability of cutting-edge networking products. In this role, you will leverage a strong test automation background (Python) to design and execute thorough test plans for advanced networking features, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions
What You'll Do:
Develop, execute and automate comprehensive feature test plans for Layer 2/Layer 3 networking protocols (e.g. STP, RSTP, MSTP, VRRP, MC-LAG, LACP, L2PT, LLDP, VPLS, EVPN, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, and MACSEC), based on detailed feature requirements.
Design and improve test automation frameworks by creating new automation libraries and implementing complex automation algorithms to enhance test efficiency and coverage.
Utilise strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues discovered during testing, ensuring timely identification of root causes.
Implement and execute test cases, including developing automated test scripts (using Python PyTest and Robot Framework) to streamline repetitive testing tasks.
Use networking test equipment (e.g. Spirent, Ixia) to generate traffic and validate performance, including automating these tools for comprehensive test coverage.
Report on testing progress and outcomes through clear documentation and regular status updates.
Handle critical customer queries and escalations, working quickly to reproduce issues and assist in resolving them to maintain customer satisfaction.
What You Need To Bring:
Strong automation background: Proven experience in test automation with Python (PyTest) and familiarity with the Robot Framework, with the ability to develop new automation libraries and complex algorithms.
Network protocol proficiency: Proficient understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols.
Analytical and debugging skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a talent for debugging and isolating issues efficiently.
Communication and teamwork: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Adaptability: Self-motivated, quick to learn new technologies and able to adapt to changing testing requirements.
Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of switches, routers, and IP networking fundamentals.
Specialisation in one or more of the following areas:
Layer 2: Mastery of service provider, data centre, and switching technologies – including STP/RSTP/MSTP, VRRP, MCLAG, LACP, L2PT, LLDP, VPLS, and MACSEC.
Layer 3: Expertise in routing protocols and MPLS – including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, and MPLS.
Quality of Service & Security: In-depth understanding of Class of Service (CoS) mechanisms and firewall/ACL configurations.
Hardware & Multicast: Familiarity with Broadcom Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) architecture and multicast netwo
