Job Description

Under the broad direction of the Director of Cyber Security and Resilience, the Data Governance Program Manager (DGPM) will execute the overall data management strategy and will work closely with data owners, stewards, and the data governance executive sponsor in order to enforce the agreed-upon governance rules and best practices. This role will act as the technical intermediary between the business community and the technical community working with business owners, data stewards, and IT project teams to influence and drive our enterprise data governance program including data quality, data mapping/lineage, and data catalog implementation. the DGPM will establish and ensure adherence to an enterprise data governance program framework for data policies, standards, and best practices. This role is data-centric and requires technical analysis and demonstrated knowledge in data governance, technical network schematics, and data quality to aid in building an enterprise data-driven culture. The preferred candidate will understand network schematics to develop technical data flows and lineage schematics. The ideal candidate has strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify, quantify, and effectively raise business risks associated with data quality or non-compliance. The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail, be a synthesizer, and have the ability to commit to deadlines. The Data Governance Program Manager is an effective leader and communicator and a seasoned problem-solver, and one who can partner with stakeholders to design and implement data management best practices and procedures. The Data Governance function resides in the Risk Management Department. The Data Governance Program Manager works to bring people across Ent together around the shared purpose of leveraging meaningful data to achieve the mission.

Essential Functions

  • Data Governance: Responsible for facilitating business and technical stakeholders in defining and owning our data assets in order for our company to find, understand, access, and consume the data we need. Develop and enrich a data strategy as the authority for information about our data resources. Assist in the implementation of the data management strategy, including user policies and training materials. Ensure that the enterprise data is aligned with relevant policies and procedures set forth by the Data Governance Team. Analyze and visualize data to describe what is happening or what has happened and provide consulting to the data scientists to aid with data analysis. Participate in ongoing governance program activities including culture and training, process management, compliance, performance, and technology enablement. Facilitate data governance committee meetings. Develop and maintain Data Governance roles, accountability, and ownership and decision rights. Closely interact with business data stewards to develop technical data flows and lineage schematics. Provide business-level support to the data steward community.
  • Data Management, Flow, and Lineage: Manage and administer Microsoft Purview. Create data flow diagrams using a number of tools such as Purview, Stealth Bits, and/or PowerShell. Accountable for gathering information requirements and working with the business to define standards and rules to ensure data is compliant with defined information, policies, and quality requirements within the functional areas. Responsible for the organization's data flow and lineage schematics. Identify and execute robust and continuous improvement opportunities within the data management processes in the applicable systems by working with technical resources in Information Technology. Create and manage business metadata for published data sources to ensure that it is easily discoverable and meaningful to information workers.
  • Data Quality: Maintain data governance processes and controls by working with project and business leaders to analyze the impact of future changes on critical data sources and mitigate any potential risks to data quality.
