Summary

This posting is for a full-time, in person, 12-month, unclassified, on-site faculty position for our Bossier campus.

Examples of duties

EDUCATION

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Graphics Technology, or a closely related industrial design field is required.
  • Must meet all SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) regional accreditation credentialing requirements.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years documented, relevant, and applied industry work experience as a drafter or technician.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education or technical training environments utilizing multimodal formats (face-to-face, online, or hybrid) is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • System Compliance: Absolute adherence to all applicable Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) board policies and procedures.
  • Software Competency: High proficiency in core design platforms, specifically Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to effectively use technology in the curriculum, including standard office suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and institutional reporting tools.
  • Pre-Employment Screen: Must pass a mandatory pre-employment criminal background screen as a condition of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
  • Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 70 pounds.
  • Dexterity to handle welding tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on demonstrations.
  • Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

The Instructor of Engineering Graphics provides instructional alignment with the role, scope, and mission of the College and the overall LCTC framework. The successful candidate delivers professional, accredited course instruction in multi-view projections, architectural concepts, and civil drafting. Faculty members are expected to facilitate student learning across multiple instructional modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online), maintain posted campus office hours, and actively assist with institutional recruitment and local workforce initiatives.

INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT:

· Utilize approved curriculum to develop clearly stated course objectives and verifiable student learning outcomes.

· Organize and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, or online instruction as well as accurately track student progress, grades, and attendance using the college's designated Learning Management System (LMS) (Canvas).

· Prepare course handouts, lectures, and lab exercises that support School assessment initiatives.

· Instruct students in the practical completion of relevant hands-on projects, specifically covering architectural, civil, and mechanical drafting disciplines.

· Perform consistent evaluations of student progress according to institutional, divisional, and departmental criteria.


INSTITUTION SERVICE & WORKFORCE COLLABORATION:

· Participate in local business and industry advisory activities to ensure coursework meets immediate regional workforce demands.

· Assist with program recruitment events, student orientation, and local student organizations like SkillsUSA Louisiana.
