OVERVIEW

University Relations builds Santa Clara University’s excellence and character by strengthening relations with alumni, parents, and friends of the University, raising public awareness, and increasing private philanthropy. The development division has been recognized with the CASE Educational Fundraising Award, an honor given each year to superior fundraising programs at educational institutions across the country.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Annual Giving Program is the primary group responsible for raising annual expendable support through the Santa Clara Fund in addition to helping drive the percentage of alumni that give each year.  Each year, Santa Clara Fund gifts ensure financial support for undergraduate scholarships, academic programs, study abroad and immersion experiences, and student initiatives.

The Annual Giving program is now seeking highly self-motivated candidates with outstanding initiative and a commitment to higher education to join a 13-person team of field fundraising officers and programmatic staff responsible for running Santa Clara’s ongoing annual giving efforts.

The Assistant Director of Student Philanthropy and Outreach will be positioned to build and sustain this cutting-edge advancement program while gaining personnel management experience. This position will focus on providing a first-class philanthropic experience for all donors by leveraging digital engagement, largely through video communication, to effectively build relationships based on what truly matters to each individual supporter.

The Assistant Director oversees five Student Campus Creators (DXCCs) and will co-manage the Annual Giving Solution Program with a Give Campus Program Manager. The Assistant Director will collaborate with other departments, including Marketing and Communications, Alumni Relations, and Development, to effectively execute outreach campaigns using technology resources, including Give Campus's cloud platform, video messaging portal, and Santa Clara’s Customer Relationship Management platform.

In addition, the Assistant Director of Student Philanthropy and Outreach is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and support of an undergraduate Sr. Gift program that educates students about the Santa Clara Fund, encourages participation through giving, and cultivates future alumni leaders for Santa Clara.  In coordination with the Alumni Association’s Assistant Director, Community Engagement—Student & Identity, will design, build, market, sustain, and evaluate programs that transition current students and recent graduates into engaged alumni.  The position is directly responsible for creating affinity in support of the University’s efforts to strengthen engagement, enhance its reputation, and increase its social and financial resources.

This role is critical to helping the SCU achieve both its near-term annual giving goals and long-term fundraising objectives and develop the next generation of philanthropic support. As a self-motivated professional with strong management skills, the team-oriented Assistant Director of Student Philanthropy and Outreach will embody Santa Clara’s spirit and engage alumni and friends in a scalable, personalized manner. The Assistant Director will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of Annual Giving and be trained, onboarded, and supported by a Give Campus Program Manager.
