About the role

United Way Bay Area is seeking a Senior Director, Individual Giving to lead our individual giving initiatives. In this role you will be part of a dynamic Development team. It is our goal to increase our number of new donors and deepen the relationships we have with our current donors. 
 
The Senior Director, Individual Giving oversees of all aspects of individual giving including major gifts, planned giving, direct response, and events. The individual in this role will supervise and mentor team members and will collaborate with- and lead staff and volunteers to raise funds and awareness of UWBA’s critical work. Responsibilities also include establishing goals and measuring progress against them. 


The Senior Director, Individual Giving will personally manage a portfolio of 100-120 major donors and/or prospects capable of giving gifts of $10,000 and up.  They will oversee the development and implementation of events targeting UWBA’s affinity groups. They also collaborate with the Corporate Engagement Team to support the stewardship of workplace campaign donors.  

What you'll do

  • Make direct face-to-face solicitations and assist board and other staff with their solicitations, including providing support, counsel and communications 
  • Qualify, develop, and maintain year-round relationships with a portfolio of 100-120 individual donors and/or prospects to grow annual individual gifts and planned gifts 
  • Create individual stewardship and engagement plans for donors in portfolio 
  • Personally solicit legacy gifts and oversee the design and execution of planned giving campaigns 
  • Oversee leadership portfolios to ensure support and track actions 
  • Manage, mentor, and oversee goals and relationship metrics are met for Individual Giving team members 
  • Develop cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies to support donor engagement goals 
  • With Individual Giving Team members, provide overall support and direction to deepen UWBA’s affinity groups’ engagement and financial support 
  • Develop new strategies for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding new prospect pools, with a focus on building bridges between Corporate Engagement’s workplace giving campaign donors and direct support for UWBA.  
  • Partner with Marketing Department to develop tailored collateral for solicitations and other kinds of engagement 
  • Direct and create major giving events including stewardship and cultivation activities  
  • Participate on cross functional teams and be a member of the Development leadership team  
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Development Operations, develop reports and standard operating procedures for the most effective use of Salesforce
