The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Accounting Specialist 1. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services empower individuals with developmental disabilities to lead self-directed, healthy, and meaningful lives.

Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or a close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Tracking available funds for POs to ensure adequate funds are available for each service and commodity. Verifies all purchase requests are appropriate with the most cost-effective goods and services ordered and all documentation is in place before processing invoices. Reconcile invoices using standard accounting principles before submitting an invoice for payment.
● Reviews all purchase requests and enters all requisitions and purchase orders into Arizona Procurement Portal (APP). Ensures all utilized accounting codes are correct and current. Enters requisition and PO details by utilizing tracking and related logs. Research vendor history for purchasing goods and services. Reviews on and off-contracted vendors in APP.
● Processes and tracks Division infrastructure requests. It will require procuring emergency services and creating open and one-time POs as necessary.
● Using clear and effective verbal and written communication, the position will act as a liaison between Division Programs, member support facilities, and Business Operations Manager for purchasing-related functions and communications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
● Principles and practices of business management.
● Federal and state laws.
● Rules and regulations as they pertain to program operations and activities.
Skills in:
● Identifying, communicating and implementing business principles and practices in the workplace.
● Applying and interpreting Federal and State laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to program operations/activities.
● Communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written formats.
Ability to:
● Analyze and evaluate systems, deficiencies, strengths, and situations.
● Apply corrective measures or best practices as appropriate.
● Write reports and make recommendations.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
● At least 12 semester hours or 1 year of Professional-Level experience with customer service, procurement, accounting, or a related field. Experience with Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

● Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexp
