Requirements
The Cancer Prevention and Control Program (CPC) at Georgetown University is currently seeking applications for a highly motivated Research Associate (RA) to join a team to model the natural history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and evaluate tobacco control policies and strategies to prevent and reduce COPD health burden.
The position involves conducting epidemiologic analyses, systematic literature reviews reviewing and analyzing secondary data (e.g., nationally representative health surveys and health care systems) The candidate will also assist in the preparation of deliverables (e.g. reports, presentations) and manuscripts. The opportunity will provide a unique experience in chronic disease population simulation model development.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Chronic diseases epidemiologic analyses for risk assessment and data extraction.
Manuscript Writing.
Analyzing Health Data.
Health Literature Search.
Work Interactions
The individual in this position will primarily interact with Luz M. Sanchez Romero, Assistant Professor at CPC. The RA will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of modelers, economists, public health scientists at Georgetown and collaborate with a network of researchers from NIH-funded research consortiums from TCORS- Center for the Assessment for Tobacco Regulations (CAsToR) and Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) Lung modeling on a project-by-project basis.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master’s in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or related field
Strong ability to critically evaluate epidemiology data and studies
Experience in scientific writing and communication
Working independently with health related cross-sectional and longitudinal data
Quantitative data analysis using Stata, R or Python
Experience conducting literature systematic reviews and meta-analysis

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
