Job Description

NBCUniversal is looking for a detail-oriented analyst to support the data quality & integrity efforts for enterprise data initiatives, including consumer, finance, workforce, and legal data domains.

The Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for ensuring a high level of consumer data quality and integrity is maintained across enterprise platforms. Working closely with data vendors and a wide range of internal stakeholders, this position will oversee quality efforts across the entire data supply chain, including consumer data onboarding, data enrichment, data use and data transfer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform operational tasks related to data quality auditing and remediation efforts to ensure cleanliness and completeness of the data.
  • Conduct data profiling analysis for newly onboarded data initiatives to identify potential data quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain data quality test scripts in SQL, identify areas of improvement and adjust queries to further improve data quality auditing efficiency.
  • Monitor data quality performance daily and report data errors, defects, and anomalies.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot the root cause of data quality issues and provide remediation recommendations to resolve them.
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to improve data collection and storage practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team and stakeholders to establish and ensure adherence to data quality standards and operating procedures.
  • Perform ad hoc queries for business stakeholders and communicate results with sufficient context.
  • Keep abreast of industry standards and best practices in data quality operations and technology, and update enterprise documentation in central repositories.
  • Provide guidance and training to other teams to promote data quality best practices.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of primary experience in a data quality role, preferably with large and complex consumer datasets in database and cloud data warehouse environments.
  • At least 1 year experience with SQL, able to read and write complex SQL queries for data quality auditing purposes.
  • Knowledge of data quality tools and methodologies and the ability to define and create customized rules using SQL or tool-compliant syntax.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct data profile analysis and data quality performance analysis based on business value and priorities.
  • Familiarity with cloud storage and data warehouse environments (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure, S3, Google Cloud Storage, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau, Qlik Sense, Power BI, Domo, etc.
  • Experience with workflow management tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • BA/BS in technical or quantitative discipline, or significant relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a data and analytics engineering role a plus.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and database design principles and familiarity with ETL/ELT process and data lineage.
  • Fast learner, able to grasp new skills and adopt new tools quickly.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Combination of technical skill sets and business savvy to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and drive your own projects.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks, and familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
