Job Description:

Sun Life embraces a hybrid work model that balances in-office collaboration with the flexibility of virtual work. Internal candidates are not required to relocate near an office.

The opportunity: The Director of Health & Risk Solutions Actuarial Pricing will be responsible for delivering comprehensive business and financial analysis to advance profit and growth objectives. While the primary emphasis will be on Medical Stop-Loss products, this role will also provide analytical support for additional strategic initiatives across the Health & Risk Solutions business segment.

How you will contribute:

  • Develop and enhance rate study methodologies
  • Coordinate implementation of pricing changes
  • Provide ongoing consultation of case level opportunities
  • Provide sign-off on internal actuarial and finance controls
  • Evaluate, monitor, and report actuarial operating performance
  • Manage and evolve the creation of detailed actuarial reports and models in support of the business
  • Partner with Health & Risk Solutions Business Analytics team to innovate pricing and risk selection parameters
  • Actively contribute to product development initiatives to keep products well-positioned in the market
  • Evaluate and recommend processes to improve quality and efficiency of business
  • Provide leadership and direction, develop and monitor performance to team members

What you will bring with you:

  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • 8+ years of appropriate actuarial experience
  • Prior management experience
  • FSA preferred
  • Bachelor's in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other fields requiring rigorous mathematics and analysis
  • Active status in the Society of Actuaries and American Academy of Actuaries
  • Thorough knowledge of actuarial and risk management processes and a complete understanding of factors that influence insurance profitability
  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire and coach employees
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Ability to create and communicate strategic direction in the assigned actuarial operating area

Salary:  

$153,400-$230,100

Your actual base salary will be determined based on your unique skills, qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location. In addition to your base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on your individual performance as well as the overall performance of the business.
