Candid currently has an opportunity for a Revenue Accountant. The Revenue Accountant will be a key member of our finance team. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, supporting grant and contract compliance, and maintaining strong financial controls. The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit or SaaS revenue accounting, a solid understanding of ASC 606, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.

Position: Revenue Accountant

Reporting to:  Senior Accountant

Supervises: N/A

Schedule: 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday

Compensation: $50,000-70,000 (this range is for the NYC area and will be adjusted for other localities; additionally, factors like skills and experience will be considered).

Location: Remote. In-person attendance is expected during our annual, weeklong all-staff summit. Additionally, participation for in-person meetings is expected at least once per year for most employees, at least once per quarter for senior leaders, and at least once per month for the executive team. Staff that are not in NYC are expected to travel for these meetings.

Responsibilities  

  • Process monthly journal entries for contributions, grants, sales and subscription revenue, and deferred revenue, ensuring accurate application of revenue recognition requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing and processing grants, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and grant provisions as well as contract terms and conditions.
  • Set up invoicing schedules for our SaaS subscriptions in accordance with contract terms.
  • Assist with revenue recognition and invoicing schedules for SaaS subscriptions in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Maintain and review accounts receivable for grants and other revenue sources, initiating timely follow-ups on outstanding balances and resolving discrepancies with Development and Sales Teams as necessary.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in preparing for and supporting external audits, including providing documentation and explanations related to grant and revenue transactions.
  • Support other accounting projects and tasks assigned by Controller or Senior Revenue Accountant.

 

Requirements  

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  •  3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or SaaS environment.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with working with NetSuite ERP system and Salesforce is a plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and specific non-profit accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast -paced team environment.
  • Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
