The Position

This position leads a team of experienced patient access professionals within Market Access and Account Management by providing product reimbursement expertise and by managing the development and day to day maintenance of specific product patient/reimbursement support programs.

US Reimbursement:  The position provides in-house US reimbursement consultancy to assist key stakeholders in understanding the reimbursement environment for hospital, “buy and bill,” and Medicare Part B reimbursed pharmaceuticals and biologics.  This position will support US product launch teams with billing and coding needs, including vendor management when appropriate.  This position also requires deep knowledge of the US payer landscape and changes associated with health care reform and the Affordable Care Act.  

Reimbursement Support Hubs:  This position is also responsible for leading the development and deployment of reimbursement support “hubs” and partners with the brand teams and assigned agencies to ensure that all offerings meet the brand and organizational objectives. This position will also be responsible for managing the daily operations of inline hubs, including vendor relationships as well as staffing, budget, maintaining current business rules, and ensuring website and resources are accurate and complete. 

The “hubs” provide reimbursement and access support operations to consumers and health care providers and are managed by vendors that perform benefits investigations and other related support.  Their purpose is to help ensure that patients and physicians understand coverage and assist providers with navigating any reimbursement challenges.

Coupon/Vouchers/FMV: This position leads several other areas of the organization that assist with patient access and affordability.

As the Company continues to evolve into more specialty and/or infused and injected products, these hubs and patient access programs will play an increasingly indispensable and critical element for successful marketing, by helping consumers and health care providers navigate an increasingly complex reimbursement environment.

Managing patient access requires a varied set of skills:

  • Situational leadership to work collaboratively with Hub vendors, Payer Teams, Brand Marketing, Promotions/Marketing Communications, and Promotional Review Team (PRT).

  • Work closely with legal and regulatory departments to ensure compliance.

  • Exhibit ownership and accountability for all projects and internal assignments.

  • Development of annual strategies and tactics plan, seeking input and guidance from promotion management in collaboration with Brand team point.

  • Provide marketplace feedback in a timely manner to management, on customer business trends, competitive updates and industry issues and opportunities.

  • Development and coaching of team members to help them grow and develop within the organization.

Patient Assistance Program (PAP):  This position serves as an officer on Organon’s independent patient assistance program that provides free product to uninsured patients that otherwise could not afford their medication. Responsible for leading U.S. product donation programs, including demand management, resource management and reporting requirements.  Manages relationships with key high-visibility internal and external stakeholders on U.S. product donation programs, communications, and program related activities.   In conjunction with senior leadership, provides assistance to related departmental initiatives and functions in support of corporate responsibility objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Company Patient Assistance Foundation to ensure consistent PAP referral business rules.

  • Plans and executes charitable contributions in a manner that is consistent with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Consults with legal and compliance on a regular basis to ensure appropriate program operations.

  • Executes appropriate agreements with recipient organizations, securing all necessary approvals.

  • Provides management support for specified activities associated with PAP through which certain medicines are provided free of charge to eligible individuals, who, without assistance, could not afford their medications.

  • Prepares and executes national monthly product donation volume forecasts.

  • Ensures adherence to the Company’s code of conduct, values, standards and polices, as well as program legal and compliance requirements and governance.
