We are currently seeking a Phenomics & Automation Deployment Lead for the Vegetable and Flowers Seeds Development team in Durham, North Carolina. Enkhuizen, Netherlands or other major Syngenta location may be considered.

Job Description

Role purpose

The Phenomics & Automation Deployment Lead will play critical role on driving collaboration with the Decision Science portfolio and teams across Syngenta and leading Vegetables & Flowers Seeds Development teams towards the deployment of automation and phenomics technologies globally and at scale across vegetables and flowers.

Accountabilities

  • Drive implementation of automation/IoT and phenomics/HTP technologies after handoff from Decision Science portfolio teams
  • Collaborate closely with Decision Science portfolio teams to de-risk technologies and ensure they meet users’ most critical needs prior to implementation
  • Develop scale-up strategy in collaboration with Vegetables & Flowers Seeds Development teams
  • Steer team members accountable with regional implementation to conduct trainings, collect user feedback, escalate implementation roadblocks and incentivize technology adoption across their regions
  • Assist team members tasked with regional implementation with the coordination of local implementation, which is driven by team members deploying technologies at targeted sites or crops
  • Work closely at the local and regional level to drive change in ways of working as needed to facilitate adoption of new technologies
  • Drive cross-functional collaborations broadly, engage team members globally, leverage existing knowledge and expertise, and foster creativity to accelerate technology deployment across vegetable crops
  • Keep up to date with internal and external technology advancements, assist Decision Science portfolio teams with technology scouting and spearhead initiatives that advance innovation in vegetable teams
  • Coach/mentor team members and contribute towards employee development

Qualifications

Critical Knowledge & Experience

  • PhD in Plant Sciences or related field with 5+ years experience in industry R&D setting, or MS with 10+ years
  • Broad understanding of R&D and business, with emphasis on commercial breeding, product testing and ag practice/equipment, and R&D operations
  • Demonstrated experience with deployment of technology to accelerate product development

Additional Information

Travel within region and internationally up to 20%
