Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Security Therapy Aide I for the Treatment and Detention Facility (TDF) located in Rushville, Illinois to perform general and routine tasks pertaining to the protection, security, safety, therapy, and sanitation under conditions on an assigned shift/post for a 24/7 maximum security facility.  Oversees the movements, conduct, activities, and basic care of residents under the assigned post. Assists in the orientation of newly admitted residents. Intervenes and mediates in the settlement of disputes and altercations. Writes, prepares, and logs progress notes. Updates roster of residents for specific posts. Responds to emergency situations. Transports residents to off-site activities. 

Essential Functions

  • Performs general and routine tasks pertaining to the protection, security, safety, therapy, and sanitation under conditions on an assigned shift/post for a 24/7 maximum security facility, other work areas, residents, and staff.
  • Intervenes and mediates in the settlement of disputes and altercations among the resident populations.
  • Writes, prepares, and logs progress notes to supervisory personal pertaining to changes in resident behavior and conduct or incidents that occur.
  • Updates roster of residents for specific posts.
  • Provides on-the-job training to Security Therapy A
