Job Summary
This primary purpose is to perform professional services that are concerned with the restoration of function and prevention of disability following trauma or disease, which may include various evaluations, exercises, modalities and splinting. This position reports directly to the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an APTA approved school of Physical Therapy with a B.S. degree or higher in Physical Therapy.
- Licensed in the State of South Carolina by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy
Essential Functions
- Evaluates residents, develops treatment plans and administers Physical Therapy treatments to residents, upon referral by a physician. These services are provided to adult and geriatric residents with goal of achieving greater than 75% of billable therapy minutes per total work hours per day.
- Administers treatments designed to relieve pain, develop or restore function and maintain maximum performance using physical means such as therapeutic exercise, massage, heat, water, light, electricity balance and coordination tasks and gait training.
- Performs special tests and measurements such as muscle testing, functional ability, range of motion, neurological testing and other evidence based tests.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assigns and directs Physical Therapist Assistants in their related job duties including providing supervisory treatments every seventh treatment.
- Records accurate treatment and billing data, resident progress notes, evaluation reports and discharge summaries for residents in the electronic health records.
- Consults with other professionals regarding patients Physical Therapy program to help coordinate and plan medical services.
- Attends admission family conferences to report treatment progress and education regarding treatment goals and recommendations.
- Instructs residents and their families in resident’s physical therapy home program.
- Directs Rehab Techs in their job related duties.
- Takes physician’s orders from physician offices and facility nursing staff and schedules residents for evaluation and treatments.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
