Our Finance & Accounting Team seeks a Technical Accounting Manager to lead technical accounting review of complex transactions and provide accounting guidance to leaders within the company. You will also participate in the preparation of our quarterly and annual financial filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). You will have a solid understanding of current U.S. GAAP, an ability to research complex technical accounting topics, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and able to work independently and follow up on action items.
This is a hybrid position based from our global headquarters in Reston, VA, and will report to the Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting.
What You Will Do:
Analyze unique transactions and prepare technical accounting memos to document accounting treatment conclusions to ensure proper accounting and disclosure.
Work with the business to gather the required data for analysis.
Monitor and assess the impact of new accounting and disclosure requirements, and lead the implementations as applicable to the company
Take the lead on specific initiatives, including purchase accounting, capitalized internally developed software, goodwill and intangibles impairment assessments, accounting of joint ventures, and segment reporting.
Assist the Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting with the preparation of SEC Forms 10-Qs, and 10-K
Assist in the preparation of SEC Form 8-K for earnings release.
Assist the Investor Relations team in the preparation of quarterly earnings press releases and earnings call scripts.
Interact with external auditors to respond to information requests and inquiries to ensure that the annual audits are completed on time.
Assist in maintaining and improving SOX compliance related to technical accounting processes.
Provide support on various special projects as assigned by management.
What You Will Bring With You:
5+years of experience focused on technical accounting, audit, and/or corporate accounting work.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related discipline.
CPA Certification.
Experience of US GAAP and SEC Reporting.
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
What We’d Like You To Bring With You:
Prior experience with technical accounting of transactions.
Familiarity with Active Disclosure.
Experience with Hyperion (HFM), Costpoint, and Cognos.

Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance.

Ability to work with all levels of internal staff as well as outside clients and vendors.
