Period of Appointment

24 Months Fixed Term

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Manage and provide authoritative advice regarding workplace relations matters, encompassing the case management or resolution of matters relevant to alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct, grievances, industrial matters, investigations and performance management.
  • Undertake advocacy and represent the Department in a range of forums including the Tasmanian Industrial Commission and Equal Opportunity Tasmania.
  • Lead and/or participate in liaison and negotiation with a variety of stakeholders, including employee organisation representatives, Commissions, Tribunals and the State Service Management Office in relation to workplace relations matters.
  • Provide high-level consultancy and advice to all levels of staff around a variety of complex human resource and employee relations matters.
  • Build HR capability within the Department by mentoring and educating less experienced staff and coaching and supporting managers.
  • Interpret and apply information relating to awards, legislation, directions and procedures often involving complex and/or sensitive areas and prepare high-level correspondence, recommendations and reports.
  • Undertake research, development, review and management of projects and policies relating to HR strategic initiatives and contribute to the implementation and review of contemporary HR policies, practices and procedures.

Desirable Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification relevant to human resource management.
