iDOVE2 Job Description:                                                

We are actively recruiting a associate research scientist to join the research team focused on the use of digital health to prevent peer violence and depressive symptoms among at-risk adolescents. 

Primary responsibilities will be related to an R01 investigation, “iDOVE2: A Technology-Augmented Intervention to Prevent Peer Violence & Depressive Symptoms Among At-Risk Emergency Department Adolescents.” In iDOVE2, we are conducting an 800-person factorial clinical trial of a two-part intervention (a brief in-person session, and an 8-week automated text message program) for at-risk adolescents seen in the emergency department.  The position is for a one-year term that is renewable based on availability of resources, satisfactory performance and progress.

The associate research scientist will work with Principal Investigator Megan Ranney, MD, MPH, with co-mentorship by faculty in biostatistics and clinical psychology and opportunities for collaboration with co-investigators with expertise in violence prevention, behavioral and social science, emergency medicine, and public health informatics. There may also be opportunities for collaboration with faculty with experience in digital health, entrepreneurship, and communication.

The associate research scientist will work with the the team in projects evaluating the efficacy of the two-part intervention to prevent peer violence and depressive symptoms among at-risk adolescents. This will include conducting literature reviews, performing quantitative and/or qualitative data analyses, and assisting with manuscript development and presentations. This associate research scientist will be involved in the design, conduct, and analysis of complex clinical trials; and will build expertise in digital health, violence prevention, communication, and adolescent health; and expand their capacity for team science and successful grant writing in the fields of emergency medicine, behavioral health, and violence prevention.

Qualifications

      Completed doctorate in public health-relevant field of study by start date, July 1, 2024

      3 years of experience with data management, statistical analyses, and fluency in at least one statistical programming language (e.g., SPSS, R)

      Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a complex and diverse community 

      Demonstrated capacity to work both collaboratively and independently, to exercise sound judgment, to switch between leading a team and contributing to another, and to handle sensitive and confidential matters

      Ability to handle complex topics and present them well

      Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills for translating goals into operations, identifying needs and developing innovative proposals, programs and project structures

      Strong project leadership and management skills to facilitate timely and professional deliverables

      Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
