Job Description
AECOM is hiring a Levees and Civil Leader (Surface Water) in Sacramento, California. This role will lead the levees practice in Northern California and will work with a group of multi-discipline engineers and geologists from mid to senior level with primary backgrounds in civil and geotechnical engineering, while actively pursuing growth through business development. The primary focus of the work will be leading levee projects and working with existing clients in the Northern California and Central Valley / Delta region on upcoming project work and development of new clients and work opportunities in the region. The role will also include assisting with work on a wide variety of water resources projects which may include dams, reservoirs, canals, pipelines, flood protection systems, and conveyance facilities.
The Levees Practice leader will work with other senior technical leaders and project management teams primarily located within the Sacramento Surface Water group in pursuits of new geotechnical and civil engineering projects related to surface water as described above. The role will include assisting the Department management team in leading, developing, recruiting and retaining multi-disciplinary staff. Following integration into AECOM’s operations and effective project delivery systems, the role will be positioned for growth and promotion into higher levels of leadership. Job Responsibilities:
- Supports project managers and senior level staff in business development opportunities in the northern California and Central valley / Delta region.
- Supports, oversees, and coordinates engineering design activities for an operating unit. Actively pursues opportunities with existing and new clients. Manages and grows the levees and civil team.
- Leads and grows the levees and civil practice in NorCal and the surrounding area.
- Manages multi-disciplinary projects, with a focus on levees, geotechnical, and heavy civil projects.
- Assumes a leading role in project delivery including, but not limited to, project management, technical leadership, and project team leadership.
- Plays a key role in leading pursuits in the levees and heavy civil market area. Collaborates with other professionals from the department, other departments, and prospective subcontractors to develop the pursuit strategies and write proposals.
- Establishes communication channels with existing and new clients through project work and business development activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, and 8+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant civil/geotechnical engineering experience
- 10+ years of experience developing Plans, Specifications, and Construction Estimates (PS&E) packages.
- 5+ years managing other engineers and/or mentoring junior staff.
- Experience performing civil/geotechnical design for water resources projects.
- Project management experience
- Active California PE License
