🎯 The Role

As a Snowflake Data Engineer, you will work at the intersection of data, technology, and business, helping our clients design and scale modern data platforms that turn complexity into clarity and insights into impact.

You will play a key role in a strategic data platform migration from Databricks to Snowflake, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in an international environment and contributing to projects that drive performance, innovation, and data‑driven decision‑making — particularly for complex analytical and financial reporting use cases.

📍 Job location: Remote (Europe‑based)
🕒 Contract type: Contractor (B2B) / Employee is available if based in Portugal
🗓 Target start date: ASAP
Working hours: Full‑time (40h/week)
💵 Compensation: Daily rate €350 – €500

Note: All applications (CVs) must be submitted in English.

💥 Your Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Architect, design, and manage end‑to‑end Snowflake‑based data platforms, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability

  • Lead data modelling initiatives (dimensional, normalised, and hybrid models) to support complex analytical and financial reporting needs

  • Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines, including orchestration, data ingestion, and real‑time or near‑real‑time streaming integrations

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse data requirements, translating business needs into effective data architecture designs.

  • Ensure best practices in Snowflake implementation, including performance optimisation, security, access control, and storage management.

  • Develop advanced SQL and Python scripts for data transformation, automation, and validation

  • Integrate DevOps practices such as CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code into the data engineering lifecycle

  • Provide architectural leadership and mentoring to data engineers, fostering high standards for delivery, documentation, and collaboration

  • Support proofs of concept (POCs) and contribute to technical evaluations of tools and technologies

⚡ What Makes This Role Challenging

  • You will work in complex, evolving enterprise data environments

  • You will balance architectural rigour with pragmatic delivery

  • You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across teams, cultures, and time zones

  • As a senior contractor, autonomy is high — and so is responsibility

👤 What We’re Looking For

Must-haves

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, including at least 3 years architecting Snowflake solutions at scale

  • Strong expertise in SQL and performance tuning for large analytical workloads

  • Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture (storage, virtual warehouses, query optimisation, data sharing)

  • Proven experience with data modelling (3NF, star/snowflake schemas, analytical data marts)

  • Hands‑on experience with ETL/ELT and orchestration tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow, Dataiku, Talend)

  • Fluency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and transformation tasks.

  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices in data environments (CI/CD, version control, IaC)

  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments
