Senior Java Developer

<h2>Overview</h2> <p>We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to play a lead role in software design, architecture, requirements analysis, and software development to deliver support and maintenance of existing applications as well as development of new applications.</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Implementing effective Agile measurement and continuous improvement practices</li> <li>Organising, moderating and demonstrating Agile industry best practices. </li> <li>Experience with developing and executing plans, meeting deadlines, coordinating timelines and efforts and applying advanced principles, theories and experiences</li> <li>Managing and leading a development team in the delivery of software across various projects to strict deadlines</li> <li>Leading and coordinating the optimised architecture of new systems in a Service Orientated Architecture and the refactoring of older frameworks</li> <li>Acting as a subject matter expert focused on designing application interfaces and software services to maximise reuse based on the business processes and governance rules for sharing</li> <li>Java application development, including in the use of Spring framework, in the full software development lifecycle from concept and design to testing.</li> <li>Implementing project delivery methodologies, application development lifecycles, and agile development models</li> <li>Provide the development team with technical leadership and guidance on application design options</li> <li>Manage project source code and documentation</li> <li>Ensure that all deliverables are tested to meet the standards as defined prior to deployment to the Quality Assurance team</li> <li>Ensure production releases are compliant with the Department’s release management standards</li> <li>Conduct Developer Code Reviews to ensure adherence to Java coding standards</li> <li>Provide continuity in all major application solution decisions.</li> <li>Progress and manage technical change items/requests</li> <li>Organise skills/knowledge transfer and mentoring to team members and Department staff</li> <li>Create, write and execute unit and integration test plans</li> <li>Incident resolution</li> <li>Coding in adherence to standards </li> <li>Maintaining, tuning and repairing applications to keep them performing according to technical and functional specifications; performing preventive maintenance activities; providing user support</li> <li>Integration of technical and application components to meet business requirements </li> <li>Completing assigned tasks related to phases of development lifecycle of enterprise applications within given scope and timeframes requirements</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject</li> </ul> <h2>Essential skills</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Technical Skills</strong> <ul> <li>Expert in Enterprise Java development, with experience using industry-standard frameworks, e.g. Quarkus/Spring Boot</li> <li>Microservice and API development (RESTful, experience of REST design and implementation)</li> <li>Understanding of API security protocols (OAuth 2.0/0penID Connect)</li> <li>Knowledge of Kubernetes, API managers and WebLogic</li> <li>Experience with OpenShift Container platform, 3scale API and KeyCloak</li> <li>Testing frameworks and TDD (like Cucumber or Junit)</li> <li>Databases: Oracle 19c RDBMS</li> <li>Proficiency with Message Broker Technologies</li> <li>Red Hat OpenShift 4 with Docker</li> <li>Red Hat PAM</li> <li>Red Hat Single Sign-On</li> <li>Developing using Modern front-end libraries and frameworks such as Angular 2+, Bootstrap or Material Design</li> <li>TypeScript</li> <li>NodeJS</li> <li>RESTful APIs</li> <li>Git</li> <li>Oracle database</li> <li>PL/SQL</li> <li>HTML</li> <li>CSS / SCSS</li> <li>SQL Developer</li> <li>UX/UI Development</li> </ul></li> <li><strong>Consultancy Skills</strong> <ul> <li>Client-facing skills</li> <li>People management skills - introducing and building ways in which people can learn from each other, encouraging mentoring and the transfer of knowledge by designing and delivering learning interventions</li> <li>Team work and emotional intelligence </li> <li>Good self-management – continuous performance is both an objective and a mind-set </li> <li>Has an innovative approach – a bold thinker and doer, matching creativity with vigilance </li> <li>High value on openness and transparency</li> </ul></li> </ul> <h2>Experience</h2> <ul> <li>7+ years of experience in application development</li> <li>Acting as a senior responsible person and leading teams of specialists on complex software projects</li> <li>Experience mentoring an advantage</li> <li>Public sector experience preferred</li> </ul> <h2>Benefits</h2> <p>At Expleo, we are committed to providing a competitive salary and substantial benefits offering with unique wellbeing, financial and employee recognition programmes.</p> <p>We pride ourselves on our diverse and inclusive
