About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Real Estate Accountant with a strong background in commercial real estate accounting to manage the financial operations of our diverse portfolio of Commercial Properties nationally. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of producing accurate and timely financial reporting. This role requires strong knowledge of real estate accounting, lease structures, and property-level budgeting.

What you’ll do here:

• Analyze and interpret lease agreements to determine billing obligations, recoverable expenses, and rent escalations.

• Process and enter leases in the accounting software.

• Work closely with property managers and the leasing team to stay up to date on lease amendments, renewals, and tenant changes.

• Complete month-end and year-end close processes by preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Variance analysis and explanations.

• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.

• Coordinate with internal departments to gather and verify financial information.

• Participate and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist in implementing best practices in accounting operations.

• Assist in all other projects

What you bring to the table:

• Post secondary education in Accounting or Finance – is required

• CPA in good standing – is an asset

• Strong understanding of lease administration and real estate accounting principles

• Advanced Excel and Power BI skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools

• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking and French-speaking colleagues across the country
