About the role:
KalVista seeks an experienced and influential Vice President, Information Technology to expand, enhance and manage all aspects of our global IT function. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will serve as a strategic leader responsible for administering the full facets of IT, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, business systems, digital innovation and data strategy. You possess extensive life sciences industry experience, an in-depth understanding of regulatory compliance (e.g., GxP, SOX, HIPAA), and a proven track record of implementing scalable IT solutions cross-functionally in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Responsibilities:
Strategic IT Leadership:
• Develop and execute a forward-looking IT strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives, including commercialization, R&D, clinical operations, manufacturing and other enterprise systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to identify and implement technology-driven opportunities that improve efficiency, innovation and scalability
• Serve as a key member of the leadership team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT team and across the organization
Infrastructure & Operations:
• Oversee the design, implementation and management of robust, secure and scalable IT infrastructure to support the company’s global operations
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of critical business systems, including ERP, CRM, laboratory systems, and collaboration tools
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Cybersecurity & Compliance:
• Lead the development and execution of comprehensive cybersecurity strategies to protect sensitive data, including patient, clinical and proprietary information
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including SOX, GxP, HIPAA, GDPR and other industry-specific requirements
• Conduct regular IT audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement mitigation strategies
Digital Innovation & Transformation:
• Drive digital transformation initiatives, including the adoption of advanced analytics, cloud computing and AI/ML technologies, to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
• Partner with Commercial, R&D and manufacturing teams to implement solutions that optimize data integration, analysis and reporting across the organization
• Lead efforts to modernize IT systems and processes to support the company’s growth trajectory
Leadership & Team Development:
• Build, lead and mentor a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement
• Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to the executive leadership team, providing insights on technology investments and risks
• Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to meet business priorities
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field required. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA or MS) preferred
• 15+ years experience as a progressive IT leader, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role in the life sciences industry
• Proven success in implementing IT solutions in a commercial-stage company, including ERP and CRM systems
• In-depth experience with regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, GxP, HIPPA) and supporting regulatory audits
• Comprehensive knowledge of the specific IT requirements of commercialization, R&D, clinical operations and manufacturing
• Considerable track record of leading cybersecurity initiatives and ensuring data integrity in a regulated environment
