At Crystal Dynamics, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Controller who will report to the Director of Finance and lead our accounting department. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include overseeing various accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Global Payroll, Revenue and AR, treasury, tax, while catering to international requirements and collaboration. This role requires strong analytical skills and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. As an Assistant Controller, you will:
- Streamline accounting systems and processes to achieve efficiency and accuracy.
- Establish departmental KPIs to drive customer-oriented results and financial performance.
- Direct and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statement close processes. Ensure accurate cost recording, review journal entries, and prepare financial reports. Design, refine and optimize month-end close procedures to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Represent Accounting and serve as a key point of contact within the company.
- Oversee accounts payable and payroll, guaranteeing timely payment processing.
- Analyze intricate financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Implement and manage multiple entity accounting structure, ensuring processes are in place to account for intercompany transactions.
- Drive process improvements and ensure compliance with internal control policies.
- Own the continuous updates and maintenance of special projects, including approval workflows, desktop procedures, FAQ documents, calendars, etc.
- Oversees recruitment, interviews, hiring, and the onboarding of new team members within the department.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with accounting standards and controls.
- Manage accounting systems for AP, AR, and cash management. Assess and recommend new tools and systems as necessary.
- Collaborate with external consultants for global tax compliance and ensure timely tax filings.
- Manage ongoing relationship with insurance broker and continuously assess corporate insurance needs to align with business requirements.
- Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.
- Engage with external auditors to guarantee compliance and successful audit outcomes.
- Continuously focus on improving system efficiency and enhancing business practices.
- Key stakeholder in major system implementations or upgrades, such as encompassing invoice processing, diverse payment and banking methodologies, and procure-to-pay workflows.
To be considered for this role, we require the following:
- BA or BS in Accounting, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive finance and accounting expertise in a senior leadership capacity.
- Successfully managed a team of accountants, ideally those who were responsible for handling high-volume accounts payable and travel expense management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
- Ability to research and interpret accounting guidance.
- Demonstrable experience in a shared service, multi-location environment.
- Exceptional project-management skills and experience pushing forward successful initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- A CPA certification.
