Responsibilities

As System Architect, Critical Care, your primary focus would be on benchtop blood gas devices, and you will be responsible to:

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in system architecture design for complex software-driven electro-mechanical systems, ensuring clearly defined functional and operational interfaces by engaging relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware/software engineering, assay scientists, and cross-functional project teams to plan technically sound system integration points, facilitating the timely realization of system solutions that ensure high reliability and quality.
  • Provide technical inputs to systems design and integration planning, review design and process FMEAs, contribute to risk management activities, and drive root cause investigation FTAs as required for systems development.
  • Drive the evaluation and selection of proposed solutions, facilitate tradeoffs, and development study approaches with respect to system architecture requirements.
  • Continuously align system architecture against evolving user needs and business / market requirements, clarify understanding and technical feasibility, and translate them into product, system, subsystem and interface requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of verification and validation plans and protocols to test solutions against requirements and user needs aligned with high level system architectures.

  • Experienced with influencing, guiding subject matter experts and key stakeholders to navigate successfully through project challenges while maintaining focus on DFX principles (X = Manufacturability, Testability, Reliability etc.) and system architecture.
  • Experienced with utilizing systems engineering fundamentals to drive definition of system / product features working with Marketing, R&D, Informatics, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Requires broad experience in systems design and development involving integration of hardware, software and consumable components, preferably for the purposes of automating and streamlining the process of analyzing samples (i.e., assay).

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of a development process consistent with ISO, FDA design control requirements, ISO 14971 risk management practices and IEC standards.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to the development and successful commercial launch of point-of-care diagnostics medical devices, such as blood gas analyzers.
