Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator.

This position is ideal for candidates who demonstrate strong leadership, professionalism, and the ability to stay calm and solution-oriented in dynamic environments. Strong communication, cross-department collaboration, and independent decision-making are essential, along with adaptability, initiative, and accountability.

Experience within aquatics operations, water safety, lifeguard supervision, and program development in a K–12 setting are highly relevant to this role, and a working knowledge of Hawaiʻi’s aquatic environments and ocean safety culture are also strongly preferred.

Job Summary

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Kamehameha Schools' campus aquatic center. Responsible for planning, developing, implementing and supervising of the Aquatic Program. Ensures safety and health requirements are met for all aquatic activities.

Essential Responsibilities

Aquatic Program and Water Safety

  • Assist Athletic program in coordinating aquatic sports on the campus including swimming, diving and water polo programs, by developing an appropriate action plan for all levels of competition, K-12, which may also include the development of club and off-season programs for all three sports. Responsible for developing and overseeing the budget for the pool, aquatic program. Including but not limited to recommending purchasing of necessary equipment, materials and supplies.

Aquatics Operations

  • Responsible for daily pool schedule, working with all school levels, athletics, and outside entities. Oversees and monitors all pool patrons for adherence to safety and sanitary rules. Ensures pool areas and equipment comply with all safety regulations and establishes control to prevent/reduce accidents. Hires, schedules and supervises full, part time and on-call employees such as lifeguards and swimming instructors.
  • Responsible for leading the planning, developing, implementing and supervising of the Aquatic Program and water safety/lifeguard personnel including establishing, standard and preventative safety measures; working with the PE teachers, curriculum coordinators, and administrators of all levels on K-12 swim programs; swimming programs during the summer and other school break periods; etc. Certifies or arranges for the certification courses of school staff as necessary for various aquatic certifications.
  • Responsible for teaching swim classes and lifeguarding.
  • Responsible for the oversight of all campus' and other KS programs' off-campus water-related activities which are activities performed in or around water by KS educational entities island-wide, including: campus K-12, preschools, outreach, summer and extended learning. Oversight includes: scheduling; determination of need; assigning lifeguards; safety awareness and training; staff education of KS' water-related activities procedures; working with State and County agencies to ensure compliance with local governances; assuring compliance of all off-campus water-related activities policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to clean pool, deck, restroom/lockers, office, mechanical and storage rooms, bleacher areas, stairs and surrounding pool areas. Responsible to maintain pool chemistry to comply with sanitation and water clarity requirements. Analyze and adjust appropriate chemicals to maintain correct balance. Maintain all adjacent areas. Maintain daily records of water conditions and equipment condition. Cleaning duties to include but not limited to vacuuming, skimming, scrubbing and brushing of pool interior. Manages preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned based on campus needs.

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience as a pool mana
