Summary
The Procedure Writer I/II Maint (I&C) provides expertise to station organizations in the development, revision, and maintenance of programs, processes, and procedures supporting station maintenance, operations, and programs. Serves as a technical expert for craft or operational area; performs editorial and technical reviews. Maintains expert knowledge of the stations Administrative Control Program while performing functions supporting the procedure process. Ensures documents comply with current procedure standards, supports the needs of requesting organizations and complies with current administrative controls, Unit Operating Licenses and other regulations and commitments.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma/GED plus completion of Electrical, Mechanical or I&C apprenticeship program or five (5) years applicable trade experience OR, AAS degree in Engineering or related physical science discipline plus three (3) years' experience in maintenance, engineering and/or nuclear plant operations as a technician, engineer or operator Must meet requirements to enter Security protected and vital areas of the Radiologically Controlled Access (RCA) areas Must become qualified NYR01, Procedure Preparer within three (3) months of assuming position. Must achieve Procedure Professional Association (PPA) certification within one (1) year of assuming position.
Minimum Requirements II
High school diploma/GED plus seven (7) years applicable trade experience (I&C) OR, AAS degree in Engineering or related physical science plus five (5) years' experience in maintenance, engineering and/or nuclear plant operations as a technician, engineer or operator OR, Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related physical science from an accredited college or university plus three (3) years' experience in maintenance, engineering and/or nuclear plant operations as a technician, engineer or operator. Must meet requirements to enter Security protected and vital areas of the Radiologically Controlled Access (RCA) areas. Must become qualified NYR01, Procedure Preparer within three (3) months of assuming position. Must achieve Procedure Professional Association (PPA) Writer Certification within one (1) year of assuming position.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:
Associates degree. PPA Writer certification. Nuclear experience. Experience in preparing descriptive copy using publishing tools and writer guidelines and document verification. Experience using documentation publishing software. Technical communicator skills. Good communication skills and demonstrated strong customer service orientation. Skilled in the use of computers.
Nuclear requirement:
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
1) Evaluates, plans and develops effective document changes to ensure commitments are completed on time.
2) Reviews the scope of proposed changes and analyzes documents for their applicability to successful station operation.
3) Researches corporate policies, station programs and processes, regulatory requirements and industry standards to obtain additional information to ensure safe equipment operation, document flow and workability, and adherence to regulatory requirements and writer's guidelines.
4) Researches commitments with regulatory agencies impacting new or existing documents.
5) Reviews proposed changes to document standards based on human factors principles and effectiveness to ensure compliance; makes recommendations for improvements.
