About the role

Here at Crisp, we value the strength in teamwork, and strongly believe that it’s the key to Crisp’s success. By bringing together bright, motivated creators, wherever they live and work, we are leveraging humanity’s diversity of experience and background in order to understand the challenges facing our food supply, and solve them together. Come join us, and help build the type of business you’d like to be a part of.

We are a socially conscious, distributed team. We give you the opportunity to solve challenges in the global food industry while living where you’re most comfortable and working in locations where you can help foster and grow the community you are a part of.

The Crisp Data Platform is a core part of the Crisp technology stack. It powers data ingestion, data quality monitoring and data replication capabilities for thousands of brands and is integrated with a wide range of data sources and data destinations. Our customers depend on accurate data being available quickly as it not only powers Crisp provided analytics, but also customer internal business processes like supply chain monitoring, out-of-stock reporting, anomaly detection and much more.

As the Product Manager for our Data Platform Team, you will own the strategy, roadmap and work with a team of highly experienced and skilled software engineers in taking our capabilities to the next level. The platform provides ingestion capabilities that our retailer teams build integrations on top of, but it also provides customer facing functionality for pipeline SLO monitoring, exception handling and alerting. Currently, core services run within the Google Cloud Platform and leverage services such as Airflow, BigQuery and Cloud Monitoring. However, part of our strategic objectives for 2025 is to enable the majority of subsystems to be deployable within other cloud providers and leverage alternative SQL / Compute platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake and DuckDB.

As someone who constantly speaks to customers and is experienced in building data platforms and products, you are always thinking about what could (and should) be built next. You are a respected leader who sets a compelling vision and strategy for your product, galvanizing support from key stakeholders both internally and externally. You engage closely with business, operations, and engineering teams, gathering and sharing customer context to help you and your team be a constant source of new ideas and opportunities.

Signs of a great candidate for Product Manager, Data Platform:

  • Strong technical foundation. Managing the development of a data platform requires a well-developed intuition about how data products work, how they should work, and how end-users would like them to work. You have a solid understanding of data architecture, business intelligence, APIs and analytics. You have architected, built and scaled high volume, low latency, enterprise-grade data pipelines, APIs, and products that process and manage large volumes of data for a diverse range of developer use cases. This is a Product Manager role, but having experience working as a Software Engineer is highly desirable.
  • Platform mindset. You understand that it’s possible to build for users and developers at the same time and you cherish opportunities to design things that can be used in ways you hadn’t foreseen. You have a track record in enabling developers and their enterprise organizations to build high leverage applications and IP in ways that create significant customer and user benefit, while reinforcing your product’s platform foundations. What you are building at Crisp will be used both internally and externally.
  • Principled with high integrity. People know you as someone who shares hard facts to help force explicit prioritization and disambiguate confusing situations. Your principled consistency makes your perspective valued by everyone, even when you can’t please everyone.
  • Strategic and iterative. You see the big picture and communicate clearly where we are going, but you care deeply about delivering incremental value in iterations. Quality and user experience is of utmost importance to you, and you are comfortable optimizing to strike the balance between a solution that works for the customer and the business.
  • Data driven. Not all decisions can be data driven -- sometimes well qualified guesses are required to build the right thing. But you strive to guide development and measure success with hard data where possible. You de
